MAI served as a lead evaluator for this comprehensive mixed-methods study. The research employed a multi-phase design, beginning with a landscape scan to understand the national field of OST coordination, followed by in-depth case studies of varied OST Intermediaries (OSTI). The study investigated:
- How OSTIs adapted their coordination functions during the unprecedented disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic and the national racial reckoning.
- The strategies OSTIs employed to advance racial equity within OST systems.
- The ways OSTIs strengthened critical partnerships with schools and other ecosystem partners to support youth and families.
This study directly informed the Wallace Foundation’s understanding of the evolving learning and development ecosystem and provided key insights for policymakers and practitioners on leveraging OSTIs to address persistent challenges and promote equitable opportunities for young people. The project culminated in a final public report, numerous presentations and three articles (in process).
